Onderwater in de West

Watches

There are many Divewatches, most of them good, some of them better.
What do you want and what do you need?

What do I want/Need

First of all : A dive watch should be waterproof to 200M. With a 100M divewatch you can swim/snorkle/shower.
Somewhere on the watch there should be 200M (or more).

              1                                               2                                     3
Nr 1. The most simple dive watch. Analog with besel (1 way) Battery or Eco drive
Nr 1. De simpelste, Analoog met duikring ( 1 richting) batterij of Eco drive

Nr 2. Dive watch with depthmeter (the bulb on the left) you can see the depth in the display (52F)
Nr 2. Duikhorloge met dieptemeter (de bobbel aan de linkerkant) de diepte wordt aangegeven in het display (52F)

Nr 3. Digital Dive watch no besel.
Nr 3. Digital dive watch no besel.

All this watches are good, the first one comes in handy as a normal watch when ashore, which is, no mather how much you dive, most of the day. The second one comes with the handy depth meter, whom you don't need ashore. The third one is fully digital.

Al deze horloges zijn goed, de eerste is handig om dat je, hoe vaak je ook duikt, meestal boven water bent, bij de tweede is de diepte meter handig, en de laatste is volledig digitaal.

My advise, for what it's worth :
1. Look for a watch you like.
2.The second and third watch might perform better but it can be confusing as well, to many info on a small space.
3.The build in depth meter does usualy not replace you're capilair depthmeter on your console (manufacturers info).
4.I don't want an battery operated watch. The second watch battery for example last 2 year, with 30 dives a year. If you dive more they run out fast.
5.When you agree with point 4, you can choose the Eco drive watches, I like automatic/kinetic.
6.If you look at a watch and you don't understand what you see, you don't want it.
7. I might be handy when the band can lenghtened over a wetsuit.
8.A build in light can be handy.
9. If you want you're buddy to have a look the watch: it's very difficult with nr 2 and 3.

My Choice:

Breitling Avenger automatic, full Titanium. (you don't need this if you dive once a week or less).

The examples are Citizen watches, but could have been other brands as well, they do all the same.
+$200 Citizen/Seiko
+$400 Citizen/Seiko/Navy Seal (The navy seal has Tritium i.a.w glow in the dark)
+$800 Tag heuer
+$1000 Tag heuer
+$1500 Tag heuer/Breitling
+$2000 and up: Tag heuer/Breitling/Omega/Rolex.
